Helichrysum (Helichrysum italicum) also known as Immortelle and Everlasting

In the language of flowers, this is eternal love and everlasting.

Why are helichrysum flowers called immortal? This is because of its unique ability to retain its vibrant yellow colour, even after it is cut and dried, it keeps its colour, shape and form.

One aspect I really enjoy about Helichrysum is that is imbued with the power of the sun, its infusion gives us so much joy with helping heal mind, body and soul.  In fact, the name, Helichrysum is derived from the Greek words ‘Helios for sun, and ‘chrysos’, meaning golden and if you get to look at the flower heads, they are bright yellow and golden.  The ancient Greeks used this oil for wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties, regenerative and anti-allergic effects.  Along with Frankincense, Rose, Jasmine, Myrrh, Spikenard, Helichrysum is sought after and is often referred to as one of the world’s most valuable, ancient healing substance.

Helichrysum is a member of the daisy family, it is native throughout the mediterranean, but mainly cultivated in Italy, France, Spain.

It has an unusual honey-like aroma and is often used as a fixative in perfumes, soaps and cosmetics.  It is a very powerful oil when blended synergistically with other essential oils

A combination of wonderful compounds which make it a potent anti-inflammatory and anti-allergenic oil.  It treats a range of conditions from increasing circulation, aiding the digestive system and relieving respiratory conditions.  It will boost the immune system, colds, flu, fevers, helps to ease headaches and promote feelings of comfort for the nerves, depression, anxiety and similar conditions.

We have been using Helichrysum for a number of years now in our creams and serums, and have found it to be very effective in a synergistic formula.  It provides general skincare and it is notably proficient in skin rejuvenation, improving skin tone, and texture.  Incorporating it into your daily skincare routine enhances and supports cell regeneration and tissue healing.  The oil is very mild on your skin and highly compatible with all skin types.  Helichrysum is now a real sought after oil for beautifying the skin and is becoming increasingly popular in aroma cosmeticology.  As an antioxidant with collagen-increasing virtues it is renowned for restoring aging and wrinkled skin. Its functions also include purifying, cleansing, and antiseptic functions on the skin, and is attributed with hydrating and rejuvenating powers for cells of the stratum corneum.

We like to blend it with other nourishing ingredients such as squalane, vitamin E, Macadamia, Sunflower, Borage, Jojoba, Almond, Rosemary antioxidant, rosehip seed oil extracts, artic blackcurrant, acmella oleraceace, rose absolute, neroli absolute, geranium, mimosa, chamomile, lavender, Bergamot.

Helichyrsum is a very beautiful oil to work with, its aroma fills the air with its unusual aroma which uplifts you mind, body and soul.  What a joy Nature has given us with this very powerful sunny inclusion – Helichrysum – Oil of Immortelle, Everlasting.,
